DGT-OmegaT 3.7-DEV compared to 3.6-BETA

Version 3.7-DEV is the continuation of previous branch 3.5-DEV, including features for which there are some already known problems. It can be tested, but should not be considered as stable.

From a user point of view, it includes all features from 3.6-BETA plus the following ones:

  • Glossaries
    • Collapsable text in glossary pane. Some samples are provided, but due to some already known problems (for example with links) this is not mature enough to be put in test.
  • Statistics
    • Use selected score for statistics (in 3.4, this is always adjusted score; in older versions, a dedicated score without penalties)
    • Do not build objects: faster and less memory-consuming
    • Possibility to use new score (inactivated by default due to slowness)
  • OpenXML filter
    • Directly interprets reformatting tags, without using a script. Please help us by comparing results in 3.4 and 3.7, to tell us if result is similar
  • Other
    • Can detect a target file opened by another tool (stable version: only with MS Office; BETA version: also with LibreOffice)
    • Requires Java 9, and adapted to Java 11 (older versions require extra downloads to work with Java 11)
      • Cleanup converters for very old versions of OmegaT (they required JAXB)
  • Plugins
    • New file filter for MQXliff (MemoQ)
    • TeamBase and translation memory plugins
      • RMI: servers without GUI

All of this is here to be tested. Contrarily to features in TEST, these features are considered as experimental, either because there are already known bugs, or because they need tests more in depth; in any case they are not ready to be used in production.
