Configure edition zone delimiters

Choose delimiter location

Old versions of OmegaT, until 2.3, used two delimiters for the beginning and the end of the edition zone. Then it was decided to keep only the last one, in order to have the translation aligned with the source. But some people found this solution a little bit confusing.

For DGT we selected an other configuration, which will be referred as "DGT style" in this chapter : again there are two delimiters, but to keep the alignment with the source, we insert line breaks.

However, we perfectly understand that this solution can also make confusion for other people. That is the reason why we finally decided to make it configurable: in the "view options" dialog, we add a set of radio buttons and check boxes, which finally give four possibilities:

End of segment only Translated text<segment 0000> OmegaT 2.5 and later
Start and end of segment <segment 0000>Translated text<end segment> OmegaT until 2.3
End of segment only + line breaks Translated text
<segment 0000>
Start and end of segment + line breaks <segment 0000>
Translated text
<end segment>
DGT style

Info about where the segment comes from

There are a lot of cases where OmegaT automatically inserts a segment when it was not already translated. Of course you already knew that the segment was already translated, but now you see text in it and it is difficult to immediately identify where the text comes from. For that reason, we also added in the header (or the footer if you selected in the previous option not to have an header) a small text to identify the provenance of the just inserted segment. We also defined a color code for the same reason. You may say that this means having the same info twice, but there is a limited set of colors while there can be a lot of possible locations the text can come from. In any case, in this new version the associated text, but not the color, is unactivable.

Next chapter describes the list of colors and associated header texts. This was already present in older versions.
