DGT Workflow

The DGT-OmegaT Wizard’s design is conditioned by DGT translation workflow which is basically composed of:

  1. Original documents for translation – stored in the Dossiers server (DGT translation repository) and managed via Tradesk (DGT’s document management application)
  2. Pre-processed translation memories in tmx format and available in the Dossiers server in the relevant dossier folder under the \pret subfolder to be used in the creation and update of translation projects:
    • From Euramis (DGT repository of EU legislation and documents translated in DGT and other EU institutions in the last 20 years in tmx format):
      • Retrievals: Extraction of segments previously translated which match (100% or lower match) the relevant original(s) for translation,
      • Downloads (full reference documents/legislation or previous translations with a relevant match),
      • Extraction of Eur-Lex legislation titles
    • From MT@EC (DGT’s in-house machine translation system based on Moses): Machine Translation output for the relevant document(s)
      1. Projects for revision and revised, also stored in the Dossiers server and managed via Tradesk
      2. Ongoing and finalized translations stored in the Dossiers server via Tradesk
      3. Finalized sdlxliff or tmx memories of translated documents stored in the Dossiers server, in the folder of each relevant document, via Tradesk.

OPERATIONS THAT CAN BE PERFORMED VIA THE DGT-OMEGAT WIZARD

You can use the DGT-OT Wizard for most of the operation – if you find it has added value to your workflow - provided you have defined the relevant paths in the setup.ini file and copied the relevant files to relevant folders respecting some “rules” concerning the organization of folders and file names.

See Section 4 – Managing DGT-OT Projects – in the Quick Guide available in the DGT-OT Wizard (by clicking on Quick Guide at the top of the DGT-OT Wizard window) for more information

These are the operations that can be performed via the DGT-OT Wizard which have been automated in the context of DGT translation workflow.

  1. Create a new project with one or more documents, with all the tmx reference (and MT, if any) files
  2. Update a project with new documents/new versions of already existing documents and new tmx files
  3. Translate in share mode using TeamBase, if you have installed TeamBase
  4. Sending projects for revision, getting projects to be revised, sending revised projects and getting revised projects
  5. Sending (ongoing/finalized) translated documents to Tradesk
  6. Sending memories to Euramis
