DGT plug-ins

The DGT-plugins.jar file includes some additional features accessible via buttons in the toolbar.

This plugin (only one jar file) is distributed under license GPL v3, exactly like OmegaT. That said, it will not work with standard OmegaT because it is an editor popups plugin.

Access to IATE

The button simply opens a link to IATE (European Union multilingual term base). In the public version of DGT-OmegaT, it opens the public IATE interface (http://iate.europa.eu/).

Note: You can also download of copy of the validated and non-confidential data of IATE - which is available here: https://iate.europa.eu/download-iate - to use it as a TBX glossary in your projects. However, take into consideration that this extraction is very big (2 GB once uncompressed): first, you should use IATExtract.jar in order to reduce the size, by selecting the language pair and if possible, the domain of your current project; and if it is not enough, you will probably need to give OmegaT more RAM memory (2 GB or more) than the default, depending on the language pair you want to use.

Other buttons enable access to:

  •  Euramis - DGT's Translation Memories repository
  • Quest - DGT's metasearch tool giving access to a multitude of DGT's internal and public terminology sources
  • Docfinder (a DGT application which allows to quickly locate and display EU official documents).

These are in-house applications which can only be accessed in DGT. For this reason, these icons are displayed grayed.
